Have you ever
felt something deep inside after a rainy day. The moist from the air, the scent
of the rain, the windy breeze that crawls you , really touched the deepest
corner of emotions .What gave me the most enjoyably moment during rain is the
distinctive smell in the air after it rains. You’ll find it in a lot of poetry
and also on many inspirational lists of things to be happy about. But actually,
what really causes it?
Well, here it goes – The smells people
associate with rain can be caused by a several things. One of the most pleasant
rain smells, the one we often notice in the woods, is actually caused by
bacteria! Actinomycetes,it grows in soil
when conditions are damp and warm. After the soil dries down, these bacteria
produces spores in the soil. Those spores rise up into the air and They somehow
have a distinctive, earthy smell. Simply said, spores inside the nose. (^^)v.
Another sort of smell is caused by the
acidity of rain. Because of chemicals in the atmosphere, rainwater are a little
acidic, especially in urban areas. When it comes in contact with organic debris
or chemicals on the ground/soil, it can cause aromatic reactions and
sensations , it also reacts with chemicals, such as gasoline, giving them a
much stronger smell. These reactions generally produce more unpleasant smells
than bacteria spores, so the bacteria makes a lot better smell- Nature always
win.!!
Another one ,comes from the natural oils
that plants and trees release. The oil then collects on surfaces such as
rocks/soils. The rain then reacts with these oil and creates some kind of gas
through the air. This scent is like the bacteria spores ,and most people
consider it a pleasant, fresh smell. These has even been bottled and sold for
its aromatic qualities!
NOW YOU KNOW!
These are a few common rain smells, but
there are also all sorts of other scents after it rains. Whatever it is, Thank
You Allah for these blessings. Master designer of the universe.
